SYMPOSIUM 2

ART IN THE 3RD DIMENSION: Design,  Manufacture, and Distribution of Creator-Owned Toys.

Maybe you’re a toy fanatic wanting to take the next logical step, or maybe you have a comic character that you’d like to share with your fans in a new way. You’ve heard of plenty of artists who produce their own toys. But you don’t have their contacts – where do you begin?

Turning your artwork into a three-dimensional, manufactured figure is a lengthy but rewarding process. Learn from experience how to work with sculptors, designers, and prototype developers to develop a toy of your very own. Through the process, you’ll think of your character in completely different ways as you wrestle with the limits of manufacturing technologies, the spectrum of production methods, factory minimums, and your own finances. It’s challenging, but it is possible. Meet our panel of toymakers and find out how close you are to… the third dimension!

Join a cadre of today’s top storytellers in this unique 2-hour discussion workshop designed to bolster the craft of creating unique characters from the ground up.

Participating storytellers include JEFF PIDGEON (Happy Beaver, TR!CKSTER FOX, Pidgeon Toys), BRIAN FLYNN (Hybrid Design, Super7), DAVE PRESSLER (Robot and Monster), KLIM KOZINEVICH (Bigshot Toyworks), DOV KELEMER (DKE Toys), SCOTT MORSE (Strange Science Fantasy), and more to be announced shortly!

S.U.C.K.L.E. is going for Stretch Goals….errr…Suck Goals on Kickstarter!

Suckadelic and DKE Toys soar past first Kickstarter goals

for S.U.C.K.L.E. Series 1 Mini Figures

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Last night DKE Toys sent out an update for the S.U.C.K.L.E. Kickstarter including new “Suck Goals” with more colors and more figures.

From the Kickstarter:

New “SUCK GOALS” added!!!

Update #2 · Jun 25, 2013

Thanks again to everyone who has supported the S.U.C.K.L.E. figure line so far. We have just cruised past our first Suck Goal of $18,000 which gave everyone who pledged $40 or more an additional exclusive GID set of 10 figures.

Now that we are in the black, what are we actually pushing for you ask? We want to add more figures to Series 1!!! That’s right we want to put this money to good use. We are not asking anyone to add more money than the stated pledges to get these additional figures but if we hit our goal everyone with a $40 or more pledge will have their 2 exclusive sets increased to 11, 12, 13, 14 and maybe 15 figures. So tell a friend. We can do this!!!!

To be clear, now that we have surpassed the $18,000 mark if you increase your pledge to $40 you will now get an ADDITIONAL exclusive set of all 10 S.U.C.K.L.E. figures in glow in the dark. So $40 gets you 3 sets of 10 in “flesh”, clear & GID. Clear and GID will only be made available here on Kickstarter. Also all the new Suck Goals will apply to pledges of $40 or more so please consider increasing your pledge if you haven’t already.

If we make our highest goal of $35,000 and add 5 more figures to both exclusive sets you will get 40 figures for $40!!!! Spread the word.

From the original press release: At San Diego Comic-Con 2012 DKE Toys debuted the first 5 sculpts of The Super Sucklord’s mini figure line, S.U.C.K.L.E. (Simply Unimportant Collectable Kitschy Little Eyesores). Sculpted by George Gaspar/October Toys.

The Super Sucklord and his brand Suckadelic have been making custom resin art “toys” for over 10 years. Classic vintage toys have always been a huge inspiration for his work. S.U.C.K.L.E. pays homage to the classic mid-eighties toy line M.U.S.C.L.E. by Mattel. The figures are roughly the same size and made similarly out of solid color injection molded PVC plastic. Each of the Suckadelic characters will be immortalized in the same mini wrestler style as the original M.U.S.C.L.E. figures and stand approximately 2 inches tall.  If you are already a M.U.S.C.L.E. collector these figures should display perfectly with your vintage figures.

Since San Diego Comic-Con 2012, 5 new sculpts were created, bringing the total to 10 unique figures for SUCKLE Series 1.

The ten figures in Series 1 will include: Sucklord 66, Sucklord 43, Sucklord 16, Ass Wipe, Necromancer, Galactic Jerkbag, Ira Tyranusberg, Another Bitch, Vectar, and Gay Empire.

Through this Kickstarter DKE Toys and Suckadelic hope to fund the production line of these figures so that they can be made available to stores around the world and create the basis for a line that can continue to recreate ALL the characters in the Suckadelic universe.

KickStarter Reward levels start at $5 and go up to $1,166. Read all about it on the SUCKLE Kickstarter page and pledge up! Get everything from the Sucklord’s scorn and bitterness to the exclusive Kickstarter colorway (clear). Even if you don’t pledge, just go watch the video. You won’t be disappointed.

Pledge today through July 15th at 10pm PST!
