Happy to announce DKE will have a very special GID version of Crapzombies by Van Beater. Each pair of Crappy Cat and Flunk Monkey comes with an 11×17 signed, stamped and numbered print. $25 for the set. Limited to 100 sets.
Yep, SDCC is just a few short weeks away and it’s time to start announcing what we’ll be slingin’ in our new booth #5045.
As we did last year we will be announcing something just about everyday until we head to San Diego, Special Releases, Signings, Art Stuff and more. About a week before the show we will release a “Cheat Sheet” that will list everything that we have going on in one easy compilation.
To get things started here is Mys’tea’rious! A Lunartik Special Brew by Matt JOnes.
$22 each and we will have 100 pieces available out of the edition of 200. The other 100 will presumably be made available by Lunartik in Europe later this summer.
Suckadelic and DKE Toys launch KickStarter campaign for
S.U.C.K.L.E. Series 1 Mini Figure Line
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
At San Diego Comic-Con 2012 DKE Toys debuted the first 5 sculpts of The Super Sucklord’s mini figure line, S.U.C.K.L.E. (Simply Unimportant Collectable Kitschy Little Eyesores). Sculpted by George Gaspar/October Toys.
The Super Sucklord and his brand Suckadelic have been making custom resin art “toys” for over 10 years. Classic vintage toys have always been a huge inspiration for his work. S.U.C.K.L.E. pays homage to the classic mid-eighties toy line M.U.S.C.L.E. by Mattel. The figures are roughly the same size and made similarly out of solid color injection molded PVC plastic. Each of the Suckadelic characters will be immortalized in the same mini wrestler style as the original M.U.S.C.L.E. figures and stand approximately 2 inches tall. If you are already a M.U.S.C.L.E. collector these figures should display perfectly with your vintage figures.
Since San Diego Comic-Con 2012, 5 new sculpts were created, bringing the total to 10 unique figures for SUCKLE Series 1.
The ten figures in Series 1 will include: Sucklord 66, Sucklord 43, Sucklord 16, Ass Wipe, Necromancer, Galactic Jerkbag, Ira Tyranusberg, Another Bitch, Vectar, and Gay Empire.
Through this Kickstarter DKE Toys and Suckadelic hope to fund the production line of these figures so that they can be made available to stores around the world and create the basis for a line that can continue to recreate ALL the characters in the Suckadelic universe.
KickStarter Reward levels start at $5 and go up to $1,166. Read all about it on the SUCKLE Kickstarter page and pledge up! Get everything from the Sucklord’s scorn and bitterness to the exclusive Kickstarter colorway (clear). Even if you don’t pledge, just go watch the video. You won’t be disappointed.
Over the weekend Dov was invited to Meltdown to record a podcast with 10-year-old Gil Letelier, otherwise known as The Mutant Season. Talking to Gil was pretty fun.
Last week the Scion Motivate conference popped up at Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica, California. 50 young entrepreneurs were chosen to participate in the 2-day event and possibly win a Scion and $10,000.

Friend of DKE “Super Cooper” Berella started a Customizer’s Club at his school, The CHIME Institute. DKE donated Blank Bizarregoylz and the kids had a great time designing their own creations. Thanks to Cooper for sending in the pics.
For the second year in a row Dov was invited to be a guest lecturer at the Orange Coast College class “Design in Everyday Life”. He spoke about everything from “What We Do at DKE”, to “What a Designer Toy Is” but mostly he was there to discuss the business aspects of getting a project to market.
Dov explains how a retail price evolves.
Dov explains the different types of materials to make toys out of.
At DKE we rarely have anything to do with actually making toys. But, we were involved with the production of Mike Egan’s BONES figure that DKE Toys debuted at SDCC 2012. So here is the slideshow we used to express the evolution of 2D object to 3D object.
